Registration Clerk (Full-Time)

 

Munising Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time, afternoons, Registration Clerk. This candidate will arrange for the efficient and orderly registration of individuals who arrive at Munising Memorial Hospital. Ensures that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for registration into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Assists Billing and other departments on an as needed basis for specified projects.

 

Essential Functions Include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for registering patients for scheduled & unscheduled outpatient tests and procedures and verifying insurance eligibility.
  • Responsible for interviewing patients or their representative, where registration is unscheduled, for obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, nurses, coworkers and physicians.
  • Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patient health information and patients’ records.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  • Ensures that documentation meets current standards and policies.  Notifies supervisor when it does not meet standards & policies.
  • Answers the telephone in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate department/staff member.
  • Performs clerical functions which may include: copying, faxing and processing forms.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Respects and maintains confidentiality.
  • Works in a safe, compliant and ethical manner at all times.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year experience in a medical office environment or related experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Must have high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and become knowledgeable of release of information standards, policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Basic computer knowledge. Basic knowledge of office equipment.

Registered Nurse / Case Manager Supervisor (Full-Time)

 

Munising Memorial Hospital is seeking a full time Registered Nurse / Case Manager Supervisor to work Monday through Friday on the day shift, 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will work in our Rural Health Clinic, Urgent Care and Hospital.

 

Regulatory Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse license for the State of Michigan.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • ACLS certified within three (3) months of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred.

Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician (Part-Time)

 

Munising Memorial Hospital is seeking a part time Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician. The Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician performs the primary functions of an MT or MLT in assessing and implementing the various aspects of patient care relative to the laboratory, including drawing patients, processing specimens, timely response, quality control, quality assurance and instrument function assessment, during the shift.  This position is responsible for meeting the established standards of Laboratory practice.

 

This position is up to 25 hours per week. Benefits include: Paid time off.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives/collects/draws patient specimens such as blood urine, sputum and cultures and prepares specimens for testing here or for sending out. (A) observes strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis to prevent infection of patient and self, and contamination of specimens when working with patient samples, (B) logs specimens and procedures in the appropriate books and sends billing copies to billing department.
  • Maintains work area, refrigerators and equipment in a neat and sanitary condition. (A) Cleans counters and collection trays and keeps all work areas and collection trays restocked so they are ready to use.
  • Explains procedures in a way that puts patients at ease. Is considerate and diplomatic with patients and fellow workers as well as with other employees.
  • Requests/orders/distributes supplies in a timely manner so as not to overstock or exhaust supplies.
  • Works in accordance with all hospital policies.
  • Recognizes and responds to priorities when deciding the order of tests to be done.
  • Contacts/consults/evaluates with the appropriate supervisor when test results are abnormal and when difficulties are encountered with all identification/abnormalities in patient testing or quality control.
  • Assists the supervisor in assessing the delivery of laboratory services in the department and identifies problems and any need for improvement.
  • Assists the supervisor in assessing the needs of each department assigned on a daily basis relative to workload and supplies.
  • Assists the supervisor in assessing the priority of testing in each department assigned on a daily basis.
  • Assesses current instrument status on a daily basis in each department by running controls and standards. Troubleshoots equipment problems and collaborates with the laboratory director in any problem areas.
  • Identifies any equipment, quality control or quality assurance problems and rectifies or relays them to the laboratory director in a timely manner.
  • Identifies any abnormal laboratory results that are clearly hazardous to patient’s well-being (such as, but not limited to panic values), and relays in a timely fashion to the patient’s physician, charge nurse, supervisor or laboratory director.
  • Implements activities necessary to meeting self-objectives. Participates in implementing planned changes and activities to improve the department.
  • Holds self-accountable for the delivery of quality care in the laboratory.
  • Acts rapidly and effectively and manages self and other employees during any emergency situations.
  • Promotes harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes among the health care team.
  • Supports and adheres to laboratory and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Attends required in-service and education programs.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Technology.
  • Current License as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)(ASCP)
  • BLS Certification
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other health conditions.

Medical Assistant / Certified Nurse Assistant (Full-Time)

 

Munising Memorial Hospital is seeking a full time Medical Assistant / Certified Nurse Assistant. This position provides direct and indirect patient care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general needs of the patients. To provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and Providers.  The Medical Assistant / Certified Nurse Assistant maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing, and hospital policies, procedures, and standards.

 

The Medical Assistant / Certified Nurse Assistant is a full-time, 36 hours per week, position. Benefits include: health & dental insurance, vision, life insurance, 403B retirement, and paid time off.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient and equipment required for examination and treatment by the provider.
  • Assists the provider with patient examination and testing.
  • Reviews patient chart prior to visit.
  • Prepares treatment room, calls patients from waiting area, and obtains the patients chief complaint.
  • Records height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and instructs patient in obtaining urine samples.
  • Obtains reports of laboratory and radiology results.
  • Communicates results to patients as instructed and/or communicates with the provider the results that need addressing.
  • Administers and records injections.
  • Coordinates prescription refills and mail order prescriptions for patient.
  • Obtains prescription prior authorizations as needed.
  • Cleans and restocks exam rooms between patients and at the end of the day.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • One year experience in a health care setting.
  • Medical Assistant or CNA certification required.
  • Good organizational skills, communication skills and ability to work independently at a fast pace.
  • BLS certification.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Agility and strength sufficient to handle patients and equipment without assistance.
  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and psychologically to emergency situations.
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other health conditions.

Registered Nurse (RN) (Full-Time)

 

Munising Memorial Hospital is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Emergency Department (ED) whose compassion, clinical expertise, and excellence are top priority. The selected candidate will work night shift (12 Hours) in our Emergency Department (ED). We are looking for a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) and are offering a $5,000 sign on bonus.

 

Candidates for the Registered Nurse (RN) position should meet the following requirements:

 

  • State of Michigan Registered Nursing License.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification is Required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) Certification is Preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with healthcare team and patients.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess, plan, direct and delegate emergent patient care.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

Volunteer Program

September 2017, MMH launched our Volunteer Program after the auxiliary dissolved in early 2017. The goal is for MMH to once again become the Community Hospital by getting the community involved and volunteering. Currently, there are 4 different positions available to volunteers: Greeter, Cafe, Special Events, and Patient Activities.
