IT Desktop/Software Help Desk Technician

Munising Memorial Hospital is seeking a full time IT Desktop/Software Help Desk Technician.

We’re looking for an IT Help Desk candidate to provide internal support for employees. Candidates should have a mix of technical and customer service skills, and be passionate about technology and helping people.

This position is an on-site job working 40 hours per week. Benefits include: health insurance, dental, life insurance, 403B retirement, and paid time off.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain and evolve the internal administrative IT systems including remote sites with minimal disruption of service to employees. This includes all IT systems and technology solutions; servers, workstations, notebooks, basic networking, copiers, HP printers, and all software. Troubleshoot, install, configure, update, inventory, and manage all hardware, software, operating systems and applications.

• Install, rack and stack equipment into appropriate facilities and equipment areas. Apply KVM support, cable management, grounding, etc.

• Provide support employees to quickly triage and resolve technology issues: server, workstation, or notebook, Email/SPAM, Virus/Malware, Internet access, network access, printing, application issue, or other systems as required minimizing downtime.

• Proactively monitor all server event logs, Backup systems, mirror/replication of critical systems, DNS, DHCP, and all other internal network and computer devices. Note current and long-term trends of systems and work with vendor if necessary to quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve issues. Emphasis must be placed on mission critical systems and those affecting multiple employees and the determination of trends on the network.

• Manage and maintain audiovisual systems in the training facility: projectors, amplifiers, notebook designed and configured for guest users.

• Be versed in Microsoft Server and services: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, and Group Policies.

• Provide assistance and training on systems and software to staff. Cerner Community Works experience is preferred.

• Maintain all current systems per vendor recommendations and best practices. Coordinate maintenance with staff to minimize disruption of service. This includes the installation, upgrade, modification, or patching of all hardware, firmware, and software during off hours maintenance windows.

• Prioritize help desk calls based on impact on patient care, Ability to work under pressure, work independently, ability to troubleshoot system/software independently and document your problem and solution.

• Frequent lifting of hardware and equipment in excess of 50 pounds and physical ability to perform installations in varied and confined environments

• Respects and maintains confidentiality.

• Works in a safe, compliant and ethical manner at all times.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems preferred, Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems accepted. Network Administration, MS Windows Administration, LAN management, Project Management skills is necessary.

• 2-5 years’ experience in the IT related field.

Volunteer Program

September 2017, MMH launched our Volunteer Program after the auxiliary dissolved in early 2017. The goal is for MMH to once again become the Community Hospital by getting the community involved and volunteering. Currently, there are 4 different positions available to volunteers: Greeter, Cafe, Special Events, and Patient Activities.
