Meet Our Administrative Team

Chief Executive Officer

Sandra McGovern, DNP, RN, CPPS, FACHE, NE-BC

Sandy McGovern has 30 years of health care experience with 17 years of her experience being spent in health care leadership roles.  Sandy is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), and is a Board Certified Nurse Executive (NE-BC).  She was appointed to the Public Health Advisory Council of Michigan in 2017 by Governor Snyder, where in December 2020 she completed her assigned term.  She is a Board Member of the Michigan Organization of Nurse Leaders where she represents Nurse Leaders across the Upper Peninsula.  Sandy wrote the Suicide Prevention Strategy for Marquette County, which was approved by the Marquette County Board of Commissioners in 2013.

 

Sandy McGovern is a born Yooper…she grew up in the small mining town of Palmer and graduated from Negaunee High School.  She later spent time working in multiple progressive nurse related roles to include:  Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Associate Degree Nurse, and later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing (Nurse Educator) from OSF Saint Francis College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois.  In 2014 she completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (Systems Leadership) from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois.

Kevin Carlson

Kevin was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Michigan State University and an MBA from Marylhurst University with a Healthcare emphasis.  He has over 20 years of accounting experience in a variety of roles and industries.  Kevin is excited to be apart of the Munising Memorial Hospital team and looking forward to the future of the hospital.

Chief Nursing Officer / Risk Manager

Christi Salo

Christi has 17 years’ experience at MMH, initially starting as an RN on the medical staff and for the last 10 years as the Compliance Officer. Ms. Salo earned a B.S. degree with a psychology major in 1995. She obtained her nursing education at Bay de Noc Community College and passed the licensure test to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); she soon qualified to take (and pass) the stringent examination to become a Registered Nurse (RN). She was promoted to Chief Nursing Officer in 2016 and has excelled in this position as well.

Stacey Peterson

Stacey Peterson comes to us from Detroit, Michigan.  She brings 8 years of HR and payroll experience from Michigan State University and 5 years experience from University of Michigan Medicine Emergency Department.  Stacey moved to the Upper Peninsula in June 2018 and joined the Munising Memorial Hospital team in September 2018.

LeeAnn Kroncich

LeeAnn grew up in the Upper Peninsula and is a graduate of Northern Michigan University. The first 13 years of her nursing career were in pediatrics before becoming a practice manager for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. From there she managed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic for 16 years before joining Bay Care Medical Center in 2018.
